Investing in ASEAN 2021-2022

As a company that is firmly committed to ASEAN and supporting growth in the region through our risk management consultancy, we are proud to have sponsored the “Investing in ASEAN” guide 2021-2022. Indonesia President Director, Ian Betts, has contributed a chapter at pages 99-100.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, has emerged to become one of the world’s most important economic regions, encompassing enormous manufacturing powerhouses that produce and export around the globe. ASEAN is today a vigorous and growing trading bloc, a global hub of manufacturing and export, a leading trade partner for the EU, the US, Japan and other regional powers, battered by the impacts of COVID-19 yet energised by the signing of the RCEP.

A number of challenges may impact ASEAN’s economic potential, however. Some members are still struggling with internal conflicts: Indonesia’s Papua, Thailand’s Deep South and Myanmar’s Rakhine, particularly following February’s military coup, are just three examples. In the Philippines there are prospects for peace in Mindanao, but other conflicts persist.

Doing business globally means accepting exposure to risk. But operating in Southeast Asia should not feel like stepping into a threatening landscape. Our team knows the territory, the players and the pitfalls. We guide clients around the challenges and insulate them from the unforeseen. We assist in mitigating the volatility of a fast-paced environment.
